This conference is an opportunity to hear all about the progress in local authorities in Scotland, with a wide range of interactive presentations, opportunity to ask questions and network with other implementers of mobile & flexible working initiatives. A range of mobile & flexible working suppliers will also be in attendance for an interactive Q & A session and exhibition. Nomad Scotland Mobile & Flexible Working Conference AGENDA 09:00 - 10:00 REGISTRATION, Refreshments, Networking & Exhibition 10:00 - 10:15 WELCOME by the Nomad Scotland Chair Person To include an update from the Nomad Scotland Core Group, a summary of the current Nomad Scotland Survey results and a formal handover of the role of Nomad Scotland Chair Person from Douglas Duke, Fife Council to Lynne Swan, Glasgow City Council. 10:15 - 11:00 Wireless Cities - Are They Sustainable? Presentation from City of Edinburgh Council Andrew Unsworth, Head of e-Government will provide his perspective on the sustainability of ‘The Wireless City’, including both the benefits and challenges to local government in delivering it. The presentation will illustrate the benefits to the community and other public sector bodies in exploiting wireless technology, growth potential and what his vision for a ‘Wireless City’ is. 11:00 - 11:30 Refreshments, Networking & Exhibition 11:30 - 12:00 Building the Business Case Presentation from Aberdeenshire Council Gillian Buchanan, Support Service Manager will give a detailed account of the development of Aberdeenshire’s strategic business case for mobile & flexible working. Working with the expertise of BT, Aberdeenshire are overcoming the difficulties in getting past ‘small pilot’ stage on to delivering a plan on a corporate scale. The presentation will detail the steps taken to build the business case, the predicted benefits and the associated costs and timescales. It will also realistically report on the shortcomings of this process. 12:00 - 12:30 Supplier Q & A Questions from the delegates will be put to the panel of suppliers Delegates will be provided with information regarding each supplier’s expertise before the event, so that questions can be formulated before the event and delivered during the session. 12:30 - 13:45 Buffet Lunch, Networking & Exhibition 13:45 - 14:15 Occupational Therapy & Home Care Go Mobile Presentation from Renfrewshire Council Murdoch Carberry, Principal Officer for Business Support will present findings from an evaluation of the Occupational Therapy service pilot for mobile assessments. He will discuss the business case for mobile working and demonstrate the process improvements made with full roll out to Occupational Therapy and Home Care staff, including a new pilot to utilise text messaging into Home Care. He will also present Renfrewshire’s corporate perspective, the emerging policy and technology framework in support of remote and home working. There will also be a reflection on where Renfrewshire is relative to “Changing Lives” aspirations. 14:15 - 14:45 MySWIS Mobile Single Shared Assessment Presentation from North Lanarkshire Council North Lanarkshire will deliver a presentation to cover all aspects of the ‘mySWIS Mobile Single Shared Assessment’ tool, which is enabling NLC and partner agencies (including NHS) to undertake assessments in the service user’s home, residential home or hospital ward using real-time mobile technology.
